Can you see across your supply chain?

Planning is good. So is execution of those plans by your company. And with software, both planning and execution steps can improve your company's performance. But according to Paul Albright, that inward look is only part of the recipe for supply chain success."Without a transparent, real-time view of the supply chain, managers' confidence erodes and the entire supply chain slows to a crawl," he says. That cross-company view is possible with a new family of software that improves business velocity by enabling performance-driven supply chain communities, says Albright, president and CEO of SeeCommerce.
Until last month, the company was known as VIT. In addition, the company has a new Web address - www.seecommerce.com .
The Palo Alto based software company offers the SeeChain family of performance measurement software. Across the supply chain, modules measure accuracy of forecasted demand, raw materials availability, production performance against plan, finished goods availability, and customer service fulfillment. SeeCommerce is generally recognized as the first to offer software that gives companies a Web-delivered perspective into their global supply chains, according to Albright.
In general, the software replaces either manual systems used to track supplier performance or systems that don't exist. As a result, it in-creases supply chain velocity by automatically measuring performance at various stages. Albright says users include the Mopar Div. Of DaimlerChrysler, Polaroid, and Canadian food distributor Maple Leaf.
Last month, the company introduced yet another new module focused on supplier relationship management (SRM). It is designed to help manufacturers and distributors reduce total expenditures on materials by as much as 10% while improving suppliers' performance and collaboration. The module measures timeliness, order fulfillment, and related activities.
