Dock Equipment

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 4/1/2000

Alternative hydraulic leveler

Designed as an alternative to traditional levelers, the Versa-Dock XL facilitates loading and unloading of high cube, "low boy" trailers and conventional trailers at a single dock position. The leveler allows 9 ft wide access for below dock loading where double-wide pallets and 8 ft wide racks are commonly used.

Featured are 12 in. wide hydraulically adjustable bumpers on both sides of a standard-width leveler. To service low "high cube" trailers, the leveler and bumpers are lowered in tandem to provide access to 8 ft wide racks without restrictions or obstructions.

The risk of cargo damage and unsafe loading/unloading practices are reduced.

Air powered dock leveler

The air bag lifting technology previously available in the full-size FX dock leveler is now offered in a smaller, more affordable size. The FX Edge-of-Dock dock leveler features air-lifting efficiency in a compact, economical unit.

This permanent unit is ideal for loading docks serving a narrow range of trailer heights.

Dock leveler/ dock lift combo

For rapid freight handling from any dock height, dock leveler operations of 20 in. above the dock to 20 in. below are accommodated by the Dock-Master.

The Dock-Master is fully automatic with a powered hydraulic control that maximizes performance and safety.

The Dock Leveler/ Dock Lift combination converts to a platform lift through a solid state PLC computerized operator station. The lift provides optional loading opportunity or access to grade from any dock line or up to 60 in. above grade.

Re-engineered dockplates, dockboards

Designed to combine the strength of a dockboard at the price of a dockplate and minimize the most common failure points is a line of re-engineered dockplates and dockboards. The dockboards, ideal for the transportation and distribution industries, incorporate reversible steel legs that are bolted through an aluminum plate, increasing strength and durability. They are intended to handle most motorized loading equipment and are available in duty ratings from 5,000 to 17,000 lbs. and in 13 standard sizes.

Hydraulic dock levelers

Configured to meet specific safety and productivity demands of loading dock operations are a new line of levelers. The HD-1700 STL hydraulic dock leveler offers fully hydraulic operation and a Safe-T-Lip barrier to help prevent vacant dock drop-off accidents. The leveler features an integral steel barrier that automatically rises into place when it returns to the stored position. Also featured is an automatic recycle feature that returns the leveler to a safe dock level position if the truck departs with the leveler lip still on the bed of the trailer.

Air/foam hybrid dock seal

A new dock seal makes use of air inflation and foam technologies with an air/foam hybrid. The seal has an air-inflated head section that automatically adjusts to the height of virtually any truck. The sealing system comes in a variety of sizes to fit most doors. A built-in canopy, which projects 2 or 3 ft, is designed to stay year round and is built entirely with galvanized steel.

The air/foam hybrids are comprised of the best features of air as well as foam and offer full access to the height of the vehicle.

Economical dock leveler

The Edge-O-Dock Leveler economically spans between the loading dock and the truck. The leveler attaches permanently to the face of the dock, saving floor space while providing immediate use. This feature also prevents the unit from slipping out of position. The leveler is available in lengths of 27 or 36 in. and has capacities of 25,000 lbs.

Mechanical, hand pump hydraulic, and electric hydraulic models are available. In all the models, the lip will retract

behind the bumpers automatically after the truck departs.

Loading dock light

Secure dock safety with a sensor activated and controlled loading dock light that automatically turns the light on/off. The sensor control allows the light to be on only when the dock is in use, preventing energy waste and burned-up lamps. The powerful 500-watt quartz halogen light source optimizes safety and worker accuracy while illuminating depths of 50 ft.

Adjusting the sensor timer to minimum activation minimizes heat build-up. Product identification is easier to read with its high color-rendering index, resulting in fewer shipping errors due to misread UPC codes.

Mechanical dock leveler

Easy to operate with no heavy lifting, the A' series mechanical dock leveler is ideal for new construction and retrofit applications. Simply pull on the release chain and the deck is driven up by heavy-duty lift springs. The lip is smoothly powered out to the locked position. Then the dock is walked down on the truck bed. The lip releases as the truck departs, allowing the unit to be returned to the stored position.

To reduce deck bending and weld breakage, 4 in. of steel were added at each corner. This also allows the entire deck plate to maintain structural integrity. The design averts lift truck obstruction and tire damage.
