Is smart label technology for you?
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/2001
Smart label technology is worth consideration if you want to increase turns and throughput within your supply chain while reducing inventory.
A smart label has a chip built into it that can be read with a radio frequency (RF) reader. Large amounts of information can be stored in the chip and updated or modified as needed.
To increase awareness of this technology, CB Consultants, Port-land, Maine, is sponsoring the first international Smart Label Conference next month.
The two-day conference, April 17-18, will be held at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, Rosemont, Chicago, Ill. Fifteen conference speakers will present the leading applications of the technology, allowing end users to evaluate where and how smart labels might fit into their operations.
Speakers include Larry Kellam, director of worldwide-supply-chain innovation of Procter & Gamble, Grant Milner, director of business operation of BiStatix at Motorola, as well as executives from AIM, Symbol Technologies, and Texas Instruments.
