New ANSI standard for industrial tilters
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/2001
Industrial tilters have been in use since the early 1950's. However, there have never been definitive standards regarding their design, manufacture, and performance.
The new American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard, MH29.1-2000, changes that. The members of the Lift Manufacturers Product Section (LMPS) of Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) circulated the standard, "Safety requirements for industrial tilters," through ANSI.
Included are industry definitions and classifications, general requirements, and load rating. Technical clarifications on deflection, platform protection, controls, and maintenance are also provided.
The standard is available for $20.
