FKI Logistex forms two new divisions
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/2001
In a move to leverage its strength as a supplier of materials handling systems, FKI Logistex, Danville, Ky., is creating two new divisions.
The Automation Division combines the Buschman and Mathews business units to leverage their strengths as suppliers of full-scale materials handling systems. The new division has sales approaching $350 million, says John C. Westendorf, CEO, Automation Division.
Both the Buschman and Mathews product lines will continue. In addition to its conveyor expertise, the division will focus on systems using equipment from both FKI Logistex and other materials handling suppliers. "Our aim is to supply the best systems solutions that optimize material handling flexibility," says Westendorf.
The new Integration Division brings together the simulation, controls, system design, and integration capabilities of the SNE, Davco, and IGC business units. Division CEO Nassim Bayat says the new group has revenues of nearly $150 million.
The division will focus on the integration of controls and software, and the simulation of high-speed sortation and tracking systems as well as package, pallet, and carton handling systems, says Bayat.
The move is intended to maximize the use of resources and ideas while capitalizing on the respective expertise and leading edge advances in material flow technologies of the new divisions, explains Dave Martin, president of FKI Logistex.
In a special press conference with Modern Materials Handling , Martin went on to say that the other business segments-Alvey, White, Crisplant, and Real Time Solutions-will continue to operate as they have.
