Learn the art of cross docking

If you haven't figured out the best way to cross dock inventory yet, don't despair–you're not alone. A new book, "Making the move to cross docking: A practical guide to planning, designing, and implementing a cross dock operation," provides a practical, easy-to-understand guide to these complex operations.

This 176-pg publication, written by Maida Napolitano and a team from Gross & Associates (Woodbridge, N.J.) offers useful information for anyone working within the supply chain. For those just beginning, a step-by-step guide is provided. The book costs $35 for WERC members and $70 for non-members.

Your supply chain versus their supply chain

Competition in this century will no longer be firm against firm, but supply chain against supply chain. The book, "Supply chain management: Innovations for education," published as the second volume of the POMS Series in Technology and Operations Management, explores some of the leading edge thinking about supply chain education.

The first three sections concentrate on educational initiatives within a traditional degree-based setting. The last three sections look at educational ventures that interface directly with industrial needs and applications.
