Schneider Electric acquires Steeplechase Software

Schneider Electric (Palantine, Ill.) is expanding its offering in automation technologies and solutions that integrate applications at the PC level by acquiring Steeplechase Software, Inc., (Ann Arbor, Mich.) a pioneer in PC-based controls of materials handling equipment.
The acquisition is said to complement Schneider Electric's PC-based automation strategy by expanding its current product line while extending its potential line-up of future products. Future plans include Steeplechase's development of a service offering aligned with PC-based control, as well as a strategy for the next generation of automation products all leveraging the global Schneider Electric offer.
Steeplechase will remain in Ann Arbor. Schneider Electric's automation business is headquartered in North Andover, Mass.
