Warehouse management systems

Here are some of the latest in enhanced WMS packages that have crossed our editors' desks lately.

By -- Modern Materials Handling, 5/1/2000

Improve picking, trailer loading speeds

ROC 8 (Radcliffe Operation Control) offers a new approach to picking orders and loading over-the-road trailers to facilitate delivery expediency. The system sets the picking priorities for orders as well as positioning of pallets in the trailer. As a result, the warehouse management system speeds picking and loading, and ensures balanced, filled trailers. The package integrates portable computer terminals, radio frequency data communications technology, bar coding, and advanced Unix/NT-based technology. Customers can access ROC via the Internet.

Supply chain software expands to Internet

A suite of integrated supply chain products, Viaware, includes applications that manage the warehouse, transportation, yard, and orders. Three new modules expand these applications for e-business. The Gateway module provides tools to connect the supply chain software with other systems and supply chain partners.

With E2E, customers can access information generated by the software's individual applications. And Viaware Everywhere provides an application service provider (ASP) model that permits clients to pay a monthly subscription service for the software.

Optimize warehouse space

Easy to implement, Warehouse Librarian is a configurable software package that reduces cycle times, and improves productivity, customer service, and space utilization. Now, operators have more control because the benefits of the client/server architecture extend to the radio frequency data communication terminals, offering instant response time.
