Sharpe to retire from WERC

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 6/1/2000

Thomas E. Sharpe, executive director of the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) , announced his retirement to take effect on June 30, 2000.

As executive director of WERC for 15 years, his decision to retire comes at a time when WERC is "stronger than it has ever been," says Sharpe. Membership has increased four-fold and attendance at WERC's annual Conference has more than doubled. Meanwhile, the association has moved from conducting one seminar annually to successfully conducting 15 two-day programs this year.

Plans are under way to launch a search for the next executive director of WERC, led by Sharpe and WERC's Board of Directors.
