New B2B marketplace for packaging industry
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 6/1/2000
Packexpo.com, the online packaging marketplace, serving the $450 billion global packaging industry, announced in April the addition of full-transaction e-commerce with online ordering and purchasing capabilities. The Purchasing Exchange is now available to the 5,300 packaging supply companies currently listed on Packexpo.com. Packaging buyers also reap the benefits.
The Packexpo.com Purchasing Exchange effectively advances Packexpo.com from a research and lead-generating site into a single-source e-market facilitating commerce for the packaging industry. Buyers who are currently using Packexpo.com's Virtual Exhibit to choose from over 300 companies and 10,000 products can now research, evaluate, order, and purchase packaging machinery, materials, components, and services online.
End users of the site are companies looking to identify suppliers and to solve specific packaging questions or problems. By the end of the second quarter of 2000, reverse auctions will allow buyers to solicit live bids from sellers on the site.
"The addition of e-commerce gives Packexpo.com users the convenience and savings they're looking for," says Stuart Stafman, CEO of Packexpo.com.
