Taking advantage of the Web

There's no question that the Internet is influencing organizations. The question is: What are organizations doing to make the most of the Web?

Gary Cokins, CPIM, director of industry relations at ABC Technologies, Inc., and Tim Jordheim, manager of operations planning & management systems at Cargill, Inc., discussed changing costs across the supply chain at the recent Supply Chain World North America 2000 conference and exposition.

They say the buyer-seller interface is a critical junction where an organization's future profits are determined. Being an efficient supplier no longer assures success. Success now depends on performance from all the partners in your value supply chain.

Donna Edwards, materials strategic programs manager at Intel, discussed how e-business is enabling Intel's supply chain. She says competition is no longer just between individual firms, but is between the supply chains that design, develop, produce, and deliver products to the end customer.
