U.S. companies invest more on the Internet

U.S. companies invested $89 billion on Internet strategies in 1999, and spending is expected to increase to $120 billion in 2000, says high-tech research firm, Cahners In-Stat Group.
According to a series of new reports, "Building for eBusiness," which covers information technology (IT) expenditures, communication platforms, and Internet infrastructure, U.S. businesses have become serious about leveraging the power of the Web. Firms are investing as much as 20% of their total IT spending on Internet-enabling services, personnel, and solutions.
"Over the last 2 years, U.S. businesses have been diligently building for e-business. It won't be long before all business is e-business, driving IT spending continually upward," says Kneko Burney, director of e-business infrastructure and services research at In-Stat.
