By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 11/1/2000
Completing a process started this summer, British handheld terminal maker Psion Plc., London, has acquired wireless data communication systems supplier, Teklogix International Inc., Mississaugua, ON, Canada. Teklogix has merged with Psion's industrial handheld division, Psion Enterprise Computing, to create Psion Teklogix. The new division will combine the strength and expertise of both organizations to realize Psion's vision of the emerging age of mobile data and mobile Internet.
In the short term, this acquisition allows end users of the radio frequency data communications (RFDC) industry to have a broader range of products, says Bruce Brown, vice president of marketing and strategy for Psion Teklogix. In the long term, Psion Teklogix will have greater research and development capabilities, will be a more attractive partner, and will offer more important technology to its customers, says Brown.
Psion Teklogix will be based in Mississaugua, and will be led by former Teklogix president and CEO Ian McElroy.
