CEMA revises American National Standards
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 12/1/2000
The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association has published revisions of the American National Standards.
The seventh edition of CEMA's conveyor terms and definitions (a revision of ANSI/CEMA 102-1994) contains 51 new definitions, including base and top blow air conveyor, flex chain, and vacuum conveyor. Twelve terms are modified as well, including angle of scale, pneumatic conveyor, and turnhead.
The chain driven live roller conveyors standard (a revision of ANSI/CEMA 404-1985) establishes recommended design and application engineering practice. In the new edition, all drawings have been cleaned up and enhanced for clarity where necessary and the forward has been updated to include a safety label requirements notice.
In the first section, the terms and definitions have been expanded, regrouped for ease of understanding, and revised to conform to those in the conveyor terms and definitions standard. In the second section, figures have been redrawn and, in some cases, regrouped for clarity. No changes were made in the third section.
