Siemens wins new manufacturing award

Who's the best at manufacturing? According to global management consulting firm A.T. Kearney, the answer is the Computed Tomography division of Siemens AG Medical Engineering located in Germany. Kearney recently presented Siemens with its inaugural Global Excellence in Operations (GEO) award.

Siemens, a global provider of x-ray-based diagnostic systems, was the top performing company evaluated in A.T. Kearney's first global study of the most innovative operations practices of the world's most effective manufacturing companies.

"The intense amount of data we compiled during the review process provides a picture of the characteristics common to the top performers. All have strong leadership, culture, and focus," says Earle Steinberg, a vice president with A.T. Kearney's operations practice in the Americas.
