Comings and goings at Kewill
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 8/1/2000
By any measure, Kewill Systems plc is on the move, making two major transactions in a short period of time.
The provider of business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce supply chain management solutions sold its Logistics division to Swisslog, a world-wide supplier of integrated materials handling supply chain products and services.
Price of the transaction, which includes both Kewill's U.S. and U.K. warehouse management systems businesses, is $25 million in cash.
Swisslog will integrate key elements of the Kewill electronic commerce product suite into its own product set.
In another move, Kewill announced that its subsidiary company, Kewill Electronic Commerce Inc., has acquired Evcor, a systems integration organization that provides consulting, implementation, and support services for Kewill e-commerce solutions throughout the U.S.
Evcor will deliver Kewill's Internet-based solutions, Kewill.Net, which debuted in the U.S. in April.
Kewill.Net provides users with global access to a unique suite of integrated applications that enable trading partners to transact, trace, and control business processes over the Internet.
