Product Focus

Here are some conveyor products that have recently crossed our editors' desks.

By -- Modern Materials Handling, 8/1/2000

Conveyor-belt fasteners

The Alligator-Ready-Set Staple conveyor-belt fastener eliminates the time-consuming step of either loading a staple dispenser or manually inserting loose staples into installation tools. Installation time is cut by more than 20% compared to conventional staple-attached, hinged-plate splicing in light/medium-duty material-handling applications. These one-piece fastener strips, which come with staples pre-inserted in each fastener's top plate, also ease maintenance and help minimize installation errors.

Moving heavy units

The model RB is designed to move heavy unit loads. Roller bed design reduces belt friction and provides greater capacity. Applications include assembly, inspection and packaging operations. The bed is 6 1/2 in. deep with a 12 gauge formed steel frame. Belt widths range from 10 in. to 48 in. The maximum load per linear foot of the conveyer is 225 lbs. Both 2 HP and 1/2 HP standard motors are available.

Precision handling

Designed for manufacturing and distribution applications that demand precise product handling and system flexibility, a conveyor system provides accumulation zones for accurate placement of conveyed product, one unit per zone. Accuzone's drive rollers utilize precision 24-volt direct current (DC) brushless motors.

Offering easy installation and reduced noise levels, the system consists of easily connected, stand-alone modules with pre-set zone controls.

Accumulation conveyor

A live roller accumulation conveyor uses electronic photo-eye sensors and solenoid valves to control product accumulation. The conveyor can accumulate lightweight product as well as items with inconsistent bottom profiles.

Featuring an adjustable time delay built into each zone, it releases in standard singulation mode, but also has a slug mode. In addition, a photo-eye can be used to extract and send line condition information to the programmable controller for use in system control. The conveyors are equipped with a separate 24 v DC line to power the photo-eyes and solenoid valves.

Move large, heavy parts

A line of modular slat conveyors is designed to feed parts to an operation or for parts accumulation. Each slat handles up to 150 lbs. and links together with other slats to support long and/or large products, enabling body shops to transport and accumulate large sub-assemblies or parts kits between welding stations. Slats are 7.5 in. long and up to 90 in. wide. The conveyors run at speeds up to 40 ft./min.

Overhead & inverted power-and-free conveyors

The accumulation capability and load accessibility of overhead and inverted power-and-free conveyor systems make them suited to production, assembly and finishing operations where workstations must be supplied on a continuous basis. Dog Magic overhead and inverted power-and-free conveyors feature variable chain speeds, recirculation, indexing and sortation of products, balancing of operations and surge and stripping capabilities for maximum material flow and cost effectiveness. The conveyors are available in variable lengths and can reach load capacities of up to 8,000 lbs.

Conveyor saves power, cuts costs

Suited to applications with run-on demand requirements, PoweROL conveyors save power and money while reducing noise levels and minimizing wear and extending motor life.

A low-profile, modular construction enables the conveyor to fit in tight spaces. Motorized rollers are entirely self-contained with the motor and gear box within the roller tube. A simple mechanical design and plug-in electrical components allow for quick and economical installation.

Cost saving conveyor

The Zone Belt accumulation conveyor consists of individual zone belts between 15 ft. to 39 ft. wide, and 24 ft. to 36 ft. long. It allows for a one-product to one-zone ratio, which minimizes impact and reduces breakage. Because it is driven by one primary belt, costs are reduced. The conveyor uses photo-eye non-contact sensors to reduced noise levels by eliminating contact with mechanical sensors. It also offers zero-line pressure and minimal impact and comes with two logic modes: sequential accumulation and train release.
