TransCore finalizes acquisition of Amtech
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 9/1/2000
In order to increase capacity to serve global transportation markets, TransCore Inc., a privately held company, finalized its acquisition of Dallas-based Amtech Systems, a division of Intermec Technologies Corp. (a UNOVA Inc. company). The transaction value was undisclosed.
As part of the agreement, UNOVA will retain a minority equity position and a close research and development relationship. TransCore will become the largest and exclusive reseller of Intermec's Intelligtag (r) radio frequency identification (RFID) technology for ITS-related market segments.
"This is significant for the industry's global deployment of ITS systems. Working together, we can quickly bring exciting applications, such as wireless transportation-based e-commerce, from concept to reality," says John Worthington, TransCore president and CEO.
