Product Focus

Here are some industrial truck products that have recently crossed our editors' desks.

By -- Modern Materials Handling, 9/1/2000

Increased performance

Features of a family of 3,000 to 4,000 lb. capacity three-wheel electric sit-down counterbalanced lift trucks include an updated operator compartment, good visibility, and simple, reliable electric controls. The low entry step and large grab bar of models EP16KT and EP20KT provide easy on/off access. Operator convenience items, including a cup holder and a tray for pens, are located within the operator's reach without obstructing the line of sight or access to control levers. Separate control of the traction motor armature and field allows the motor to provide the proper speed or torque for the specific situation. Dual steer tires increase tire life, provide for better traction, displace weight over more area, and reduce bearing and spindle loads.

Extended-lift pallet truck

Featuring an extended lift that elevates the forks and the pallet up to 24 in., the PE 3560 pallet truck helps reduce deep bending by the operator while manually building pallet loads. The picking cycle begins with empty pallets that are elevated to 24 in. As the pallet is layered with cases, the operator can lower the pallet, keeping the work surface at a comfortable height. The fork-over design requires a pallet without bottom boards. Available in a 96 in. long fork, the truck capacity is 6,000 lbs. in the lowered condition and 2,500 lbs. from 9.25 in. to 24 in.

Pallet truck scale

With fingertip control, a pallet truck scale eliminates wasted steps, streamlines manual loading and transfer operations, and provides trouble-free performance. A backlit WI-125 indicator and battery are encased and welded onto the body of the pallet truck. The on-board rechargeable battery provides up to 35 hours of continuous power. The scale weighs loads up to 5,000 lbs. with a 0.1% accuracy. It features four legal-for-trade environmentally sealed weight sensors.

One-ton cushion tire forklift

A 3,000 to 4,000 lb. cushion tire forklift offers the latest advancements in safety, performance, and operator comfort. The "System of Active Stability" actively monitors and controls the movements of the lift truck to help prevent the vehicle from tipping. Meanwhile, it reduces injury and product damage from loads falling from forks that have been tilted too far forward or backward. To reduce vibration and engine noise, both the engine and transmission are mounted to the chassis using a full floating mount design. Features include a wide view for excellent visibility, fingertip-controlled electronic shift for easy shifting between forward and reverse, and a double-action parking brake with an ergonomically contoured handle.

Personnel lift

The aerial Navi-Gator self-propelled personnel lift is a quick, safe, economical way to access overhead tasks. The lift easily maneuvers through standard doorways and into passenger elevators with easy-to-use controls. Applications range from inspection and cycle counting to small parts order picking and general facility maintenance work. Features include 24 volt DC/hydraulic power system, a rocker grip handle joystick for one-hand operation, a gate interlock that disables all functions unless the gate is fully closed. Circuit protection with solid state circuit boards for the main control panel have been added.

Quiet forklift

The HLF 20/25/30 II series lift truck features reduced vibration and noise. Other features include clean and reliable brakes, toggle-type parking brake, a strong overhead guard, and a master switch system. The truck also offers easy maintenance; a self-diagnostic water-resistant panel monitors gauge operations and detects malfunctions, while it facilitates the maintenance of the equipment.

No more running on fumes

The return reserve forklift adapter kit is specially manufactured as a forklift gas supply reserve. A 1 lb. cylinder allows 5 to 10 minutes to complete the forklift task and gives the driver sufficient time to return to a cylinder exchange rack, eliminating downtime and waste. Also, fuel can be used to its maximum capacity.

Reach truck

A reach truck is capable of transporting and stacking long materials within narrow storage aisles while it offers the versatility of a standard lift truck. Electronic steering, fingertip hydraulic controls, and a fully adjustable contour seat provide an excellent mobile workstation for the operator. The four-way truck can be driven forward, backward, or sideways. An advanced microcomputer with dashboard display monitors system diagnostics and offers keyless startup. A single bolt allows quick easy access to the component compartment to help expedite repairs, minimize downtime, and reduce repair costs.

Very narrow aisle lift truck

The swing-mast model SLT 35 HLC, a 48-volt very narrow aisle lift truck, has load capacities and lift heights from 3,500 lbs. at 17 ft. to 2,500 lbs. at 27 ft. A mast that swings 90 degrees to the right with a side-shift capability of 28 in. allows the operator control of load placement aisles as narrow as 62 in. Features include three-wheel configuration, three-stage mast, and full mast tilt of 3 degrees forward and 3 degrees to the rear. Also, tilt is available at all times.

New family of forklifts

A new family of 3,000 to 7,000 lb. capacity gas, LP gas, and diesel pneumatic tire lift trucks, models FG15K-35K (gas/LP gas) and FD20K-35K (diesel), offer added comfort and reliable performance. A spacious operator's compartment features an open-step frame, handy grab bar, and anti-slip steel plates. The seat provides thigh and lumbar support while the seat belt gives an extra measure of freedom as the operator shifts the body for reverse travel. The five-main bearing design gives the engine superior strength and long service life.

Electric forklift

A new electric, sit-down counterbalance forklift fits in places where most conventional forklifts cannot. Namco 4 has a capacity of 837 lbs. and is an excellent fit for light duty use. It is so compact that it can be transported with load, up and down multilevel facilities via the freight elevator.

Re-charge in minutes

The minit-charger enables fast-charging of forklift batteries without removing them from the vehicle. Full battery charging occurs three to four times faster than conventional charging systems. Installation is simple; several forklifts are assigned to a charger with each charger having several charging stations. The charger and stations are located where the lift trucks operate, eliminating the need for battery rooms, battery change machines, and multiple batteries per forklift.

Suspension seat

An ergonomically designed, fully adjustable suspension seat on the D100/ 120/150 series lift trucks increases operator comfort and maintains high productivity throughout long hours of heavy-duty operation. The forward-backward adjustment range is 1000mm/ 4 in. (60 mm/2.4 in. forward and 40 mm/1.5 in. backward). Seat height is adjustable in three stages and the seat cushion has an adjustable range. The seat back features an adjustable angle of 80 degrees.
