Don't move. Stay right at your desk on October 17 and 18 and visit the first SupplyChainLinkExpo (www.supplychainlinkexpo.com).
The Expo is a two-day virtual conference and exhibit hall hosted by Modern Materials Handling magazine and nine other publications from Cahners Business Information's Supply Chain/OEM Group, and Reed Exhibition Company, a corporate affiliate of Cahners.
During the two-day event, you can visit company booths, attend roundtable discussions, participate in interactive Webcasts, and listen to keynote addresses from two major industry players W. James McNerney, Jr., chairman and CEO of 3M Corp., and Thomas Stallkamp, CEO of MSX International.
Organized into five pavilions, SupplyChainLinkExpo represents all aspects of the supply chain - design, plan, source, make, and move - to help you focus on the information important to your job.
The Move pavilion will include content from MMH. The keynote speaker for this pavilion will be Chris Hauser, vice president of operations for drugstore.com.
Hauser's address, "How dot-coms are changing the face of distribution," will discuss not only what dot comes have already done to change the face of distribution but the impact they are most likely to have in the near future. The keynote is set for 12:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on October 17.
In addition, MMH will host a roundtable discussion on "Better materials handling in a tough economy." Speakers include Tony Gerace, partner, Tompkins Associates; Bob Meigs, director of operations, QSC Audio; and Terry Tysseland, senior vice president of U.S. operations, Ingram Micro Logistics.
These industry experts will discuss what companies in manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution can do to improve their materials handling operations and add to the bottom line even when times are tough. They will cover new practices, equipment options, information systems enhancements, and system upgrades that don't have to cost a lot but deliver big returns. The roundtable is set for 2:00 p.m. EST on October 18.
