Supply chain management – the next big wave

According to a survey of 150 business leaders, more than half feel that eliminating poor business models is the silver lining of the economic slowdown. (See chart) As for the misfortune of the downturn, 39% see it Downturn's Silver Lining - 53%  eliminate  poor biz model - 19% focus on cost reduction - 12% easier to recruit, train as the inability to get new capital. Inventory overload and uncertain future were also listed. The Accenture study also revealed that 38% view supply chain management (SCM) as the most beneficial new technology investment made in the past 2 years. Customer relationship management and enterprise resource planning technologies came in second and third, respectively. SCM was also selected by 15% of respondents as the next big application to hit the business world. To read more of the results, visit www.accenture.com.
