Industry experts - coming soon to your desktop

Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 10/1/2001

To learn from industry experts and attend a tradeshow that covers all areas of the supply chain, go no further than your desktop on October 17 and 18. Stop by the SupplyChainLinkExpo (www.supplychainlinkexpo.com) to attend roundtable discussions, join interactive Webcasts, and visit an online exhibit hall.

The Expo, hosted by Modern Materials Handling and other publications from Cahners Business Information's Supply Chain/OEM Group, and Reed Exhibition Company, a corporate affiliate of Cahners, features two influential keynote speakers.

Thomas Stallkamp, CEO of MSX International, will give the opening address on October 17 at 9:00 a.m. EST. MSX International handles major engineering projects on a contract basis. Stallkamp, known as one of the founders of modern procurement, began his career as a buyer at Ford Motor Co. in 1972. He was named president of Chrysler in 1998, after holding the company's top procurement position.

Leading off day two of the virtual conference is W. James McNerney Jr., CEO of 3M Corp. McNerney will begin at 9:00 a.m. EST, October 18. Prior to joining 3M, McNerney was president and CEO of GE Aircraft Engines, a world-leading supplier of jet engines. McNerney held several positions at GE, including the top position at GE Lighting and president of GE Asia-Pacific.

The Expo is organized into five pavilions - Design, Plan, Source, Make, and Move - each designated to a specific area of the supply chain. Chris Hauser, vice president of operations at drugstore.com will headline the Move pavilion, which includes content from MMH . Hauser's address, "How dot-coms are changing the face of distribution," begins at 12:30 p.m. EST, October 17.

The next day, MMH will host a roundtable discussion, "Better materials handling in a tough economy," which begins at 2:00 p.m. Over 7,000 attendees are expected. Visit www.supplychainlinkexpo.com for more information and to register.
