RFID Summit kicks off Frontline Solutions
Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 10/1/2001
Heard about radio frequency identification (RFID) but not quite sure how it might fit in your operations? Then the first-ever RFID Summit at this year's data capture showcase event, Frontline Solutions Expo, could be just the ticket.
Developed in partnership with AIM, Inc., the Summit will take place November 12 at Chicago's McCormick Place Convention Center, the day before the Frontline Solutions Expo opens its doors at the same location. See our preview - Scanning the aisles at Frontline Solutions .
"The Summit gives a realistic look at RFID - a technology that is really starting to take off now," says Nancy Kelly, conference director. "It is intended as a user-oriented educational event and will be practical and hands-on," adds Kelly.
In fact, attendees will put RFID to the test when they order refreshments with a wristband RFID apparatus.
Presentations will include, "RFID: a nutshell overview," by Steve Halliday, vice president of technology, AIM, Inc., and "RFID: where it works best," by Craig Harmon, president, Q.E.D. Systems.
Several case studies will demonstrate the benefits of the technology, including a presentation of Associated Food Systems' use of RFID to manage the location and temperature of its refrigerated trucks to avoid food spoilage. The Gap will reveal the success of RFID in its warehouse management and inventory control operations.
Participants will receive an RFID resource manual that includes checklists, charts, samples of RFID tags, a glossary of terms, and a directory of RFID vendors.
The cost is $435 in advance or $485 on site. For $1275, a Platinum Pass can be purchased, which includes the RFID Summit plus admission to mainstream conference sessions at the Expo.
