CeMAT to highlight logistics and supply chain
Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 12/1/2001
CeMAT, the materials handling and logistics fair at Hannover Fair, offers a new focus on logistics and the supply chain.
Scheduled for April 15-20 in Hannover, Germany, Hannover Fair 2002 is expected to draw 260,000 attendees and feature 7,300 exhibitors from over 40 countries. In addition to materials handling, six other technology sectors, including factory automation, make up the Fair. Five of the seven sectors include a USA Pavilion.
Over 82,000 visitors are expected to visit CeMAT, which features 1,000 exhibitors covering an area of 925,000 square feet. The USA CeMAT pavilion will spotlight the latest U.S. offerings in: industrial trucks, lifting gear, hydraulic platforms, cranes, continuous conveyors, driverless transport systems, storage and warehousing equipment, complete handling and storage plant/systems, packaging equipment, materials handling control systems, logistics services, and e-business.
Nearly 20 exhibitors at press time planned to participate in CeMAT's new logistics and supply segment, covering areas such as logistics projects and systems, logistical cooperation, and position marketing.
"The logistics and supply chain sector is an integral part of materials handling," says Ellen McDevitt, project manager, Hannover Fairs USA, Inc.
Companies looking to gauge the state of the industry, or find partnerships, distributorships, or joint ventures, are encouraged to attend the fair. Also, attendees can check offerings at the fair's job market.
"The fair is a gateway for new markets, new technology, and new equipment," says McDevitt.
