An automated palletizing solution combines a gantry robotic palletizer with a multi-position pallet carousel and is controlled by order management software. The software directs SKU data, pick locations, order configurations and carousel replenishment, enabling the system to buffer and position pallets of product to be built into rainbow pallet loads. Pallets of product weighing up to 2,500 pounds are loaded into the in-feed where they are inducted into the carousel, which rotates the pallets into the gantry work envelope. Up to three, 1,000 pound layers/minute can be picked off the pallets on the carousel and placed onto a new pallet. The process is repeated with layer picks from different pallets until the load is built. Then, the load is discharged from the pallet build cell, via a unit load conveyor, and taken through a stretchwrapper to a load picking station for transfer to a dock or storage location.
