Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/2002

An intensified interest in electricity as a power source for industrial trucks – and many other kinds of mobile equipment – has resulted in a new kind of equipment-show focus in the United States. From a preview of an electric vehicle exposition

Five factors that broadly affect lift truck productivity have been introduced by Calvin W. Hunter of Clark Equipment. Working with these five factors can produce important savings – perhaps 80 to 90% of what you might get with a total-system analysis – in a company of virtually any size or product volume. For practical use, the five factors translate into these guidelines: 1) Create a larger load size. 2) Increase truck utilization. 3) Cut down on damage. 4) Make better use of space. 5) Replace trucks at the right time. From a feature on lift truck productivity
