Standard container labels for the auto industry

Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 4/1/2002

The Automotive Industry Action Group (www.aiag.org) along with Odette International, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, and the Japan Auto Parts Industries Association have developed a new label standard for the global automotive industry.

"With a consistent format, the global transport label template will help reduce costs by providing information in a consistent place on the label," says Larry Graham, co-chair of AIAG's work group and General Motors' global manager of manufacturing technology.

The global transport label template is designed for use on supplier and automaker parts containers throughout the world. It is modeled after existing templates from Odette's transport label, GM's transportation label, and input from the other participating organizations.
