Software integrates pick-to-light modules
FastPic4 pick-to-light interface software enhances the efficiency of static racks and shelving used in materials handling applications. The interface facilitates the integration of the pick-to-light modules, a series of multi-colored alphanumeric displays that control order-picking operations. A computer uses the software to send the storage system an electronic pick list that activates pick-to-light modules in sequence, indicating the location and quantity to be picked. The software is capable of managing multiple work zones where several different types of storage and retrieval systems are used in a single operation.

Relocate inventory, yet pick easily
PickDirector paperless order-fulfillment system allows users to remove and relocate stock-keeping unit (SKU) slot displays as their product mix changes. Movable slot displays plug into a continuous, self-sealing power rail that runs the length of the rack; there are no wires or cables to move or reattach. The system includes modular software for order management, picking, routing and executive management that can be fully integrated and can be switched on and off as needed. PickDirector also tracks individual operator productivity and generates pick-rate reports.

Enhanced productivity tracking
Version 1.1B of the PicRite pick-to-light system for picking from flow rack, shelving and pallet locations includes enhanced productivity tracking and reporting features. Picker and zone statistics by user-selected dates can include carton, line and unit totals, as well as pick rates. In addition, the system creates graphical and tabular productivity and activity reports for specific users, zones, locations and products. PicRite operates in a Windows-based environment, incorporates several user-selected languages, and offers a suite of easy-to-use inquiries and reports. It stores multiple pick-line configurations so users can activate the proper configuration for the current work shift or season.

Supervisor's kit includes PDA terminals
A companion Supervisor's Assistant toolset is available for the Lightning Pick pick-to-light system. Personal digital assistant (PDA) mobile terminals allow supervisors and line-support personnel to quickly and easily perform certain tasks, wherever they go in the pick module. Features of the PDA include the ability to audit-check the controls of an outgoing carton, quickly change zone work plans to increase or decrease staffing levels, and perform light diagnostics on one or more zones without affecting production elsewhere. The toolset requires an 802.11 wireless LAN infrastructure in the pick-to-light area.

Pick-to-light for low- to medium-activity SKUs
Computer Assisted Picking System (CAPS) offers a full spectrum of picking solutions. The system's pick-to-light offering is a cost-effective solution for picking among a large quantity of low- to medium- activity SKUs. A territory controller on each bay displays the current order number and quantity to be picked, and a blinking red beacon on the pick indicator for each SKU indicates where to pick. When the pick has been completed, the picker pushes the button to extinguish that light, then moves on to the next SKU.

Demand-planning module increases efficiency
Version 3 of PickMate II includes a new demand-planning module. The module enables preplanning of work flow to ensure that the required number of pickers will be at the right place at the right time. A zone-balancing feature creates intuitive 'virtual zones' that balance workloads in a picking module, resulting in more efficient use of space and resources.

System handles individual and split-case orders
Digital Pick pick-to-light system is flexible for picking both individual items and split-case orders. Its exclusive carrier-on-wire system and snap-on/snap-off answer kits allow placement of answer kits anywhere on the racks. The system can be configured so that the light stops flashing when pressed, but the quantity remains lit for several seconds so workers can check their accuracy. Digital Pick's open architecture works with most WMS software and supports both bar code and radio frequency-based picking.

Pick-to-cart workstation for batch picking
Pick-to-cart workstation for horizontal carousel systems combines batch-picking efficiencies with pick-to-light simplicity and speed. The cart is positioned in front of a put-light array and can hold up to 16 totes, with each having its own light module. Lights indicate which totes are active and the quantity to be placed in them. The operator picks from the cluster of horizontal carousels with pick-to-light arrays and puts the items into totes on the cart via a put-to-light system. After completing a batch, the cart can be wheeled to other operations, such as another picking zone, consolidation, quality-control or shipping areas.
