NDC Automation, a leading designer of automatic guided vehicle systems, has changed the name of its North American operations to Transbotics (704-362-1115, www.transbotics.com). The new brand will not only engineer the systems, but will also build the vehicles, and offer consulting, implementation, and retrofits and upgrades of existing systems.

Transbotics AGVs are made to order for specific applications. These include fork style vehicles, conveyor vehicles, roller handlers and reach lift table vehicles. They serve materials handling needs in automotive, food and beverage, newspaper and publishing, microelectronics, pharmaceutical and aerospace industries. The company recently completed an AGV system for an automotive assembly facility in Indiana.

To accommodate its new presence in North America, Transbotics last month opened a service and support center in Detroit.
