A new tote and carton handling storage and retrieval machine for small- and medium-sized applications is offered by HK Systems (800-424-7365, www.hksystems.com ).

"The HK220 is new in several ways," said Mike Kotecki, senior vice president, materials handling integration. "It incorporates state of the art materials handling technology in a tote handling machine, and it is HK's first relationship with an off-shore partner."

The new machine is available with single or dual shuttles to meet a wide range of sortation applications and can be manufactured in heights of up to 40 feet. It features urethane wheels and extruded floor rails, producing less than 60 dbs in noise, suitable for many high tech applications.

And, it handles loads of up to 110 pounds per shuttle, and operates at horizontal speeds of up to 1,100 feet per minute and vertical speeds of up to 300 feet per minute.
