Gorbel acquires Cleveland Tramrail
Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 6/1/2002
Gorbel Inc., a manufacturer of overhead cranes and ergonomic lifting equipment (www.gorbel.com), has purchased the Cleveland Tramrail assets, products, technology and trademark from Shepard Niles.
According to Jeff McNeil, Gorbel's marketing manager, the acquisition will extend both the capacity and the capabilities of his company's existing product line. Gorbel offers a wide range of enclosed-track workstation cranes, jib cranes and gantry cranes. The Gorbel line includes cranes that can handle capacities of up to 10 tons, but the company wanted to meet larger load-handling requirements, says McNeil. Cleveland Tramrail's products can handle up to 20 tons.
Gorbel will manufacture the Cleveland Tramrail line at a new factory in Fishers, N.Y.
