Keeping hazardous materials under control
Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 1/1/2003
The terrorist attacks of 9-11 have forced us to add extra safety steps to the nation's supply chain. When you're shipping hazardous materials today, you need to do some extra work in your warehouse before dispatching the truck. The 2003 edition of Rand McNally's "Motor Carriers Road Atlas" highlights the steps recommended by the U.S. Dept. of Transportation, including: classification of materials, shipping papers, labeling and marking requirements, spill procedures, hazmat resources, and registration and training. The new edition also has updated maps, fuel tax listings, bridge weight formulas, and area codes. For more information, check www.mcra.randmcnally.com.
