Five steps to slow employee turnover

Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 1/1/2003

Employee turnover is a challenge to both remaining workers and their managers, as companies must adjust to hiring and training new people. Now there's a resource that can help stop this turnover at the source; a series of professional development seminars that companies can host at their own sites. By reinforcing five core values—mentor, invest, lead, enable, and support—the seminars help corporations "reconnect" with their workforces. "The reality is that companies and corporations must invest in the future of their employees," says JoAnn Hines, executive director of Women in Packaging Inc. The group also sponsors leadership conferences to boost management skills.
