Stanley acquires Cobotics

News from ProMat 2003

Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/2003

Stanley Assembly Technologies has acquired the assets of Cobotics, Inc. , an Evanston, Il., manufacturer of intelligent assist devices, or IADs. "The addition of Cobotics' technology, products and talent demonstrates our commitment to position Stanley as the market leader in intelligent and innovative solutions for the global assembly market," says Stanley president Denise Nemchev. Technology and products from Cobotics will complement Stanley's existing core solutions, which include high-performance DC electric and pneumatic tightening tools and controllers, conventional pneumatic balancing arms, and torque tubes, she says. IADs are computer-controlled, servo-powered tools that improve the productivity and safety of assembly operations that require workers to lift heavy parts.
