Clark emerges from bankruptcy

Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/2003

Not so long ago, the Clark Material Handling Co. was busily building 13,000 lift trucks a year at its Lexington, KY plant. Its fluorescent green pallet trucks, stackers and forklifts were seen in warehouses across the country. But all that was in question when the management-owned company went bankrupt. Now Clark is back.

A federal court has approved the sale of Clark to the Young An Hat Co. Ltd., a Korean hat manufacturer that also owns hotels, supermarkets, bus manufacturing and farm equipment businesses. "The sale will provide the working capital necessary for Clark to once again provide world-class parts and technical service support," said Clark's CEO Brian C. Butler.
