Order picking accelerates with tote lights
News from ProMat 2003
Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/2003
A new, horizontal pick-to-light system makes order picking easier by highlighting the specific storage tote or cell where items are to be picked. Conventional systems light the entire shelf. But the QuickPick, introduced and demonstrated by Remstar at ProMat, features an optical transfer display that is mounted in a shelf liner placed under each tote. By quickly directing an operator's attention to the exact picking point in the carousel, the system improves speed and accuracy, says Ed Romaine, director of marketing and e-commerce business development. The traditional pick light tower can be used as a redundant system in conjunction with the QuickPick lights, or eliminated altogether.
