Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 5/1/2003

In the next 18 months, 65% of respondents to a Modern Materials Handling survey say they will be buying lift trucks. In fact, a full third of those companies plan to spend more than $100,000. Nearly 500 people responded to the e-mail survey. Thirty-nine percent of respondents say they plan to buy Class 1 electric-powered rider trucks. In addition, 28% said they were looking at Class 2 electric-powered narrow-aisle trucks and another 28% at Class 3 electric-powered pallet trucks. At this point, 27% of survey respondents are currently buying while 38% are evaluating manufacturers and 20% are selecting suppliers.
