Like most other information system tools, automatic data capture (ADC) tools from bar code scanners to printers have not had an easy time of it lately. But that is about to change, says the research firm VDC. It expects 8% compound annual growth worldwide through 2006. That will push sales from nearly $4.5 billion today to nearly $6.4 billion then.
