Performance management in the warehouse
Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 7/1/2003
"Performance appraisals have been compared to seat belts—everyone agrees that they're a good idea, but many people find them awkward to use." So says a new self-study guide called "Managing Performance" from the Warehousing Education and Research Council. Recommendations on how to get past the seat belt analogy include: set clear and concise goals; provide direct and honest feedback; determine training required to improve; recognize employees' achievements, and; offer fair and equitable rewards for performance. Take those steps and employees, managers and the warehouse will all benefit, says the publication.
