Industry leaders receive awards
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 12/1/2003
The Material Handling Education Foundation (www.mhefi.org) has named the recipients of its two top awards. Dr. Leon McGinnis of Georgia Tech received the 2003 Reed-Apple Award for his "continuing contribution to material handling and material handling education." Dr. McGinnis has been involved with material handling education for more than 30 years, most of that time as a professor at Georgia Tech.
There were also two recipients of the Norman L. Cahners award – William Powell, president of Powell Systems, and Victoria Wheeler, executive director of the Education Foundation. Both were recognized for their long-time support of the Foundation and its mission to promote materials handling education through the group's scholarship program and related activities. Powell and his company are the only continuous contributors to the program since it started in 1978.
