Epicor brings WMS suite in house

Like other enterprise resource planning (ERP) suppliers, Epicor (www.epicor.com) has added a suite of warehouse management solutions to its lineup. Earlier this year, Epicor purchased TDC Solutions. Prior to the merger, TDC supplied its software to Epicor on a license basis.
"The two products may have been together for some time, but now we're organizationally together which should benefit the end user," says Rodney Winger, founder of TDC. He's now director of sales and marketing at Epicor's Distribution Business Unit of its eProducts Group.
Winger describes the suite as a broad functionality warehouse management system that directs activities using rules-based criteria. Tasks are directed against available inventory using a planner's workbench. In addition, the software integrates seamlessly with Epicor's back office functionality from order processing to financials.
The software accommodates serial numbers but will require some modifications to be compatible with radio frequency identification, says Winger. The largest install to date is at a JVC distribution center that processes 35,000 orders daily.
