Task forces to study reusable pallets/security
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 2/1/2004
The Reusable Pallet & Container Coalition (RPPC) based in Washington, D.C. has announced the formation of two task forces, one to examine secure supply chain management and the other to study reusable pallets.
The supply chain security task force is chaired by Phil Boyle of Savi Technology and will examine safety issues and the economic benefits of a secure supply chain. RPPC says this task force has been created in response to increased security needs since 9-11. It will examine ways to create a more efficient supply chain in the midst of possible government regulations aimed at ensuring safety.
The pallet task force will look at the economic, environmental and safety benefits of reusable pallets made of plastic, treated wood, steel and fiber. Included will be ways that reusable pallets reduce solid waste, needed storage space and handling labor. Jon Holthaus of Worthington Steelpac will serve as chair.
