RedPrairie buys LIS
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/2004
The world of supply chain execution (SCE) software suppliers just got smaller by one. Last month, RedPrairie (www.redprairie.com) acquired LIS. The combined company, which will operate under the RedPrairie name, projects 2004 revenues of $130 million, in all likelihood keeping it as the second largest supplier of SCE software. The price of the deal was not disclosed.
The move gives RedPrairie immediate access to the European market, where LIS is one of the top two suppliers of SCE software. "This is the first of many steps to build our global footprint," says RedPrairie's John Jazwiec, who will lead the combined company.
He points out that LIS' offerings expand RedPrairie's lineup starting with an international trade logistics module. In addition, LIS is especially strong in third-party logistics providers, furniture and automotive. Looking ahead, Jazwiec says RedPrairie is looking to acquire additional software companies with strengths in international trade, inventory optimization and parcel management.
