AIM reinvents itself
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 4/1/2004
Recognized worldwide as the trade association for automatic identification and data collection, AIM has announced it "is expanding its charter to emphasize mobile computing and radio frequency identification (RFID)." The organization will be known as AIM – The Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility. The acronym AIM originally stood for Automatic Identification Manufacturers.
"Adding 'mobility' to AIM's name is a public reflection of the significant evolution taking place throughout our organization," says AIM president Dan Mullen. "Comprehensive plans for education and advocacy in all of our areas of technology and industry emphasis, including RFID and mobile computing, are essential to the new AIM," he adds.
