Carrier bid evaluation tool debuts

The Compass Methodology module for evaluating carrier bids is now available from supply chain software vendor Insight (703-366-3061, www.insight-mss.com). The company's chief operating officer Robert J. Belshaw said Compass Methodology will receive requests for proposals and quotes from carriers.

Belshaw said that it will then use an optimization engine to evaluate the carrier bid packages. He said the bid tool can be used on both international and domestic shipments of all modes.

The new module joins Insight's other applications for strategic planning, tactical planning, and transportation procurement. Compass Methodology can be bought as a separate package or in conjunction with other Insight applications. Belshaw said that the new module will be available on both a package license or application service provider basis.
