Ozburn-Hessey turns down the temperature
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 6/1/2004
Ozburn-Hessey Logistics has acquired Illinois-based Lanter Logistics and Lanter Refrigerated Distributing.
The acquisition brings the Nashville-based third-party logistics provider (3PL) total square footage to 17 million square feet in 20 states. That moves Ozburn-Hessey from the 13th spot on the Modern Materials Handling list of largest 3PLs up to number 8.
Lanter brings 2 million square feet of temperature-controlled space to Ozburn-Hessey along with a fleet of 150 temperature-controlled trucks. Its clients include Anheuser-Busch, Dr. Pepper/7Up and Procter & Gamble.
"By combining Lanter with Ozburn-Hessey, we have created a company that meets the unique needs of manufacturers in the food and confectionary, pharmaceutical, consumer products, and retail industries," says Scott McWilliams, CEO of Ozburn-Hessey. He adds that the two companies are complementary with very little overlap in their product offerings. The combined company, which has 2,400 employees, is headquartered in Nashville.
