RFID to track assets

While most of the talk is about the use of RFID to track shipments, there's also healthy interest in using the technology to track assets from totes and bins to pallets. In fact, two-thirds of the companies surveyed by Aberdeen Group ( www.aberdeen.com) plan to do just that within two years.
"These forward-thinking enterprises…see RFID-enabled logistics asset management as instrumental in improving customer satisfaction," says Tom Ryan, vice president of value chain research at Aberdeen.
The research report, "RFID-Enabled Logistics Asset Management," says RFID will improve visibility of assets in transit, availability of assets to fill orders, and general asset management.
