Technology and practices boost productivity

In a recent survey of mid-sized to large manufacturers in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Mexico and Brazil, respondents in all five regions said they have improved practices and use more technology this year compared to 2003, according to TBM Consulting Group.
About half of respondents identify technology improvements as a top initiative. Industrial computers, data collection devices, ERP systems and automation are listed as tools helping to make gains. Leading practices driving productivity gains are lean manufacturing and workflow improvements.
