By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 12/1/2004
It's almost time to bring your top materials handling priorities to Chicago and see what more than 700 suppliers can do to help you meet those goals. From January 10–13 at McCormick Place South, ProMat 2005 will display the latest equipment, systems and related software to improve your manufacturing, warehousing and distribution operations.
"More than ever, ProMat 2005 will focus on practical solutions to your challenges and opportunities," says John Nofsinger, chief executive officer of Material Handling Industry of America, sponsor of the event.

In addition, you can visit www.promat2005.org to register and get some details on additional events that week. And there are quite a few.
Before the show even opens are workshops on subjects ranging from the basics of materials handling to agile manufacturing.
Throughout the week are half-hour seminars on the show floor. Each is sponsored by a supplier or other industry expert and cover a range of topics. These include warehouse software selection tips, how to get the most from automatic guided vehicles, RFID in supply chain management, split case orderpicking solutions and much more.
On Tuesday, the Executive Forum will focus on managing risks and realizing the rewards in the supply chain. Speakers are Simon Langford of Wal-Mart, Kevin Smith of CVS, Dr. John A. White of the University of Arkansas and a long-time materials handling educator, and Boda Rao of Seagate Technology. Sandy Towle of the ARC Advisory Group will moderate the morning long session.
Not to be overlooked is the RFID Knowledge Center. And at 25,000 square feet of exhibit space, it would be tough to miss. It will highlight the latest developments, technology, strategies and trends in RFID. Multimedia presentations will offer tips on use of the technology and how to design and test RFID systems. The business case for RFID will also be addressed.
As you wander around the show, don't hesitate to stop by Modern's booth (4219) and tell us what you're up to these days.
