ESYNC develops assessment tool
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 2/1/2005
The RFID assessment, introduced last month by ESYNC, is powered by a software tool that compares different strategies to determine the most cost-effective solution for complying with an RFID mandate, according to John Sidell, a founding partner.
The software program factors costs like the price of tags, the volume of product shipped, the cost of labor, and the depreciation of RFID technology to compare options like manual slap and ship solutions, print and apply solutions with automated materials handling components, and outsourcing models using a third-party logistics provider. The solution can also determine which DC in a multiple distribution center network a company should use to distribute orders in a compliance situation.
ESYNC can change the inputs and run new scenarios as volumes and stock keeping units change, or as the price of tags and RFID technology go up or down.
